Which Resident Evil remake should be next?

Tuesday’s letters page asks why video game leakers do what they do, while a reader congratulates Activision on its Black Ops 6 marketing.

Solve the code
I find the idea of internet wars between different groups of leakers somewhat hilarious, especially when I see how angry some of them get even while admitting to previous things they’ve done wrong. However, there are a lot of people supporting the rumors about Resident Evil Zero and Code: Veronica, so I think we have to assume that they are probably true.

It seems strange that they ended up coming out after Resident Evil 4, but while I’m sure part of it is that the better known remakes did better than expected, I also suspect that Capcom thought they needed to build interest with a long-awaited remake like Resident Evil 4 before trying to get people interested in much more obscure games like Zero and Code: Veronica.

To get it right, they should have followed up the already disappointing Resident Evil 3 with the little-known Code: Veronica. I don’t even know where you left Zero, but it was definitely never going to come out before Resident Evil 2.

Now I’m wondering if they’ll tweak the stories a bit so that Code: Veronica takes place after Resident Evil 4 and maybe Zero is more about the aftermath of Resident Evil 1 than what happened before – or they’ll stay in the train or something.

I’d be fine with that, because there isn’t really a connection between those games and Resident Evil 5, and oh boy, that needs a complete rethink. In short, I’ll be very happy to see Code: Veronica released next. I hope they get Leonardo DiCaprio to do the voiceover for Steve Burnside.

Internet hype
I’ve seen the name Midori come up quite a bit lately in terms of leaks and they seem to be very accurate. But I wonder what they get out of it if they do? Are internet kudos points really worth risking your job that way? All they ever leak are code names and very vague details. If Nintendo ever caught them they would probably try to have them arrested, but I really don’t see how it’s worth it for them.

For others it’s clearly a desire to feel important, but as other readers have said, I’d much rather hear all this from the publishers. But if they start announcing games a day before they come out, other people will obviously fill that vacuum.

I’d actually like to give credit to Activision for not only being able to keep most things about Black Ops 6 a secret, but for actually doing their best to build up the hype until June 9th. I don’t know what the game will be like, but at least they seem to care enough to hype it up.

Video game hit
I don’t think the financial hit to Microsoft putting Call Of Duty on Game Pass is what people think. I remember when reading that only 25% of players completed the single player story, and many didn’t even touch it.

The money is made through multiplayer, from skins to weapons, coins and season passes. Look at Warzone, it’s free to play and makes a fortune. June 9 is going to be interesting. I’m not sure what to make of the rumor that the next console is actually a Windows PC, but I think it’s slowly moving in that direction.

Don’t think the industry has ever been in such a precarious situation, from jobs to consoles; this cycle seems worse than the past. All the best.
TWO MACKEN

GC: Call Of Duty costs £70 each; that’s a huge financial blow if no one buys it and it only plays on Game Pass – which was the original hope.

All you can eat
If Nintendo plans to only make remasters for their new console and they come out with the open world Zelda as a complete compilation, but in a higher resolution and frame rate, then I’m in.

Breath Of The Tears Of The Kingdom sounds amazing! Both games connect seamlessly, with one directly following the other and also the Champions Ballad DLC.

And then I woke up and saw myself paying individually for the same games again…
ZiPPi

GC: That’s at least over 119 hours of Zelda. We think Nintendo wants to spread it, otherwise no one will ever buy a game again.

Welcome your demise
Very happy to hear that a new Doom seems all but confirmed. I loved the last two and I really want to play the next one. It also means that id Software is still in business, which I worry about given recent events.

I know all the original staff have moved on now, since the glory days of the original Doom, but I still feel like id Software is one of the most underrated developers out there, both in terms of forgetting about their older work as the overall quality of all their games. Other than the two Rage games I don’t think they’ve made anything close to a bad game and even those two had really good gunplay.

Bethesda keeps saying they’re helping with Fallout, but I find that hard to believe considering how bad the shooting is. Everything id Software does on its own is top notch and I would put them right next to Bungie when it comes to the quality of their recordings.

Sadly the Doom reboot games seem to have only been minor hits, I guess because they are quite difficult and don’t have much story, but gameplay wise they are my favorite first person shooters of the modern era. era.

There’s probably not much reason to expect the third game to do better, but I highly recommend the first two games to anyone who’s curious. They can be bought for next to nothing these days and not only play great, but also look great considering their age.

At least it works
There’s one aspect of Hellblade 2 that I’ve noticed hasn’t received any praise. And it is so polished. So many games are released with performance issues, bugs, etc. Hellblade 2 is flawless. I didn’t experience any performance loss, graphics issues or anything like that. We’re quick to ridicule developers when they release games in an unfinished state. So full credit to Ninja Theory and Xbox for releasing a very polished game. Whether you like the game or not, it is an aspect of the game that cannot be denied.

The reality is that we should expect games to release in a completed state. But that is certainly not always the case, so credit where it’s due.

A somewhat interactive film
GC were clearly less than impressed with Hellblade 2 and are also known for their distaste for David Cage’s oeuvre, so I just have to ask: if they were forced to undergo another ‘cinematic experience’ it would be in the line of both gameplay styles, what would you choose?
Wonk

GC: We’d choose anything from Ninja Theory over David Cage, but our favorite interactive movie is probably Immortality. The original Life Is Strange and Before The Storm are often classified as graphic adventures, but they have less actual gameplay than Immortality, so we’d say they count too.

Pandemic Odyssey
I never would have guessed that Nintendo had such relatively standardized code names. What are the chances that they will change their system immediately, now that they know people are aware of it?

Knowing that a Super Mario game is on the way for, or close to, the launch of the Switch 2 isn’t a surprise, but I’m curious about the idea that there was originally going to be more Super Mario Odyssey. I remember there was a brief period where we thought there would be new DLC for the movie, but obviously that never materialized.

Now that I think about it, all the other DLC plans would have happened in the middle of the pandemic, so that’s probably why it never happened. Odyssey is such an easy game to add new worlds to, but it’s a shame as Nintendo always has a lot of ideas left at the end of the games.

I also wonder if some of the DLC is Donkey Kong related. Maybe something near New Donk City where you could play as DK? That would have made sense for the 40th anniversary.

I’m sure Nintendo will never explain it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of these ideas find their way into whatever the new game is. Which makes me wonder if it will still have the Cappy gimmick? I’m assuming that’s probably not the case, but I do think it’s a possibility that the new game could be Odyssey 2, in name or spirit.

The Switch version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is my first time playing the game and I’ve enjoyed it so far, but overhearing crows talking about fiber optic broadband just took it to another level of greatness lifted In my opinion.

If that new FIFA is good, I’ll eat a football. There’s no way they could have made anything decent in the time they had. It took at least a decade for FIFA to get good and even then it was still beaten by Pro Evolution Soccer by the ages.
